The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, today held talks with a delegation from Iskandar Medini Development Authority, Malaysia on various issues relating to capital development.
Naidu is leading a delegation, which includes State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishndu, to Singapore, seeking to invite Singapore Prime Minister for the capital foundation stone ceremony on October 22.
The Malaysian delegation gave a presentation on their experiences in developing Medini Iskandar Malaysia and their efforts in making it Malaysia’s largest single urban development zone till date. They also explained the principle of demand-driven master planning, according to a statement.
Medini is a Greenfield development spanning 2,230 acres designed to become the Central Business District of Iskandar Malaysia.
The Chief Minister said the developmental story of Medini Iskandar Malaysia will serve as a learning experience for Andhra Pradesh in constructing Amaravati as a world-class people’s capital.
During the presentation, the Iskandar delegation highlighted their thrust areas such as provision of infrastructure and creation of a plug and play environment for investors. They informed that $300 million was invested on infrastructure.
The delegation explained that as part of developing a media village, Medini Iskandar was able to attract the internationally renowned Pinewood Studios. Along with lifestyle areas, the village also houses international schools, and universities and business parks.
