Andhra CM holds talks with Malaysian agency in Singapore

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, today held talks with a delegation from Iskandar Medini Development Authority, Malaysia on various issues relating to capital development.

Naidu is leading a delegation, which includes State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishndu, to Singapore, seeking to invite Singapore Prime Minister for the capital foundation stone ceremony on October 22.

Funding specialist Bibby Financial expands in Asia

Funding specialist Bibby Financial Services (BFS) expands operation in Asia, offering 

factor financing to Singapore's small and medium enterprises with operations across the Causeway to Malaysia.

The company opened in July an office in Iskandar Malaysia with the plan to provide factor financing to Singapore SMEs.

Currently, the Iskandar branch is working with Bibby’s existing clientele.  It will finance subsidiaries and offices in Malaysia by providing cash flow solutions through accounts receivables financing such as factoring and invoice discounting.

Iskandar getting convention centre, two new hotels

The 3.5ha Rentak Iskandar City Square in Nusajaya will have two hotels and one office tower plus a four-storey convention retail centre when it is completed by 2019.

The RM960 million project, developed by Rentak Tebrau Sdn Bhd, will feature the latest Melia Iskandar Malaysia hotel with 450 rooms and a four-star Innside Iskandar Johor (350 rooms) that will occupy two adjacent buildings.

BMW Group Malaysia and Pan Asia Logistics held the ground breaking ceremony for the new BMW Group Parts Distribution Centre Malaysia at the Airport Free Industrial Zone at the Senai International Airport here yesterday.

Johor still top manufacturing destination

PASIR GUDANG: Johor remains the country’s top investment destination for the manufacturing sector and continues to attract strong interest from domestic and foreign investors.

Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said in the first six months of the year, the state attracted RM27bil investments compared with RM15.7bil over the corresponding period a year earlier.

He said Johor drew the highest total approved investments in the manufacturing activities nationwide at RM21.1bil in 2014, overtaking Penang and Sarawak.

On Aug 9, 2015, Singapore celebrates its 50th National Day. This year is also the 50th anniversary of Singapore-Malaysia bilateral relations, a significant milestone for our ties.

Having a hilarious time with comedian Hadith Iskandar

KUCHING: The 14 contingents taking part in the 21st Inter-state Library Sport Carnival held in the city this weekend got to laugh for an hour with famous Malaysian stand-up comedian Harith Iskandar.

Harith entertained the audience with stage jokes and shared his life experiences as an entertainer and actor after captivating them with stories on his life and family background.

After getting a degree in Mass Communication in Journalism and Broadcasting from Western Australia University, Harith returned to work for an advertising company for three years.

Separate but mutually prospering

Singapore and Malaysia have found ways to live and work together since parting 50 years ago.

On this day 50 years ago, Singapore and Malaysia decided to go our separate ways. It was a difficult period for both countries.

Many Singaporeans and Malay­sians had friends and family on the other side of the Causeway.

PM Lee, Najib toast good bilateral relations 50 years on

Singapore and Malaysia decided to go their separate ways 50 years ago today, but the ties between the neighbours have since flourished and grown deeper, the prime ministers of both countries said in messages on the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak wrote of how the countries are linked by history, geography and kinship, and have been able to look beyond differences to work together for the mutual benefit of their people.
